The price of peace

Where does trouble start
When I strongly disagree with you
And vehemently oppose you?
Every time I kept quiet, you had your way.
Sure, there were consequences,
But the moment I put my foot down, nothing was fine.

Finding quiet and balance
Displayed only my weakness.
People took me for granted,
Many times it hurt my ego.
The more I tried, the more trouble brewed.
Peace was at stake.

Let me eat humble pie,
Let there be no strains around.
After all, peace is what we need.
