An unfulfilled visit

I still recall my time as district head of Bhind, a position I took up after serving in Mandla. During my tenure in Mandla, I formed a close bond with the college principal, Mr. Mishra. We shared intellectual interests and even co-authored an article on forests, published in The Times of India.

When I transferred to Bhind, I was struck by the district's rich agricultural landscape, historical sites, and natural beauty. I thought of Mr. Mishra and the articles we could write together, exploring these themes. I invited him to visit me in Bhind, hoping we could spend time together and craft some engaging pieces.

After several invitations, Mr. Mishra finally agreed to visit. He wrote to me, mentioning his arrival date and train details. I arranged for officials to receive him at the railway station, accompanied by a vehicle.

But fate had other plans. As the officials waited at the compartment, they witnessed a devastating scene: a dead body being carried out, later identified as Mr. Mishra. The shocking news left me reeling, and I was never able to come to terms with the sudden loss of my friend and intellectual companion.

After Mishra's death, his son was in touch with me, and this event shocked me beyond words. This boy was in dire need of help, so I decided to do something about it. I invited him to the district and secured him a job in one company.

He proved to be an exceptional individual, excelling in his work and dedication. He later found a job at Godrej, where his contributions were recognized, and he was elevated to positions of increasing responsibility. Today, he is the Vice President of the company, making everyone proud.
