Beauty's repose

Graced by morning's rays, night rubs eyes of sleep, Lost traces of sleep's caress. What a beautiful creation, What recreation do we need? It's all sleeping, waking, An interval before final sleep, Never to weep, always keep Beauty's deep.

Seeking Serenity

Cross-legged, eyes closed, I seek Not worldly pleasures, nor heavenly delights unique No golden showers, nor sensual indulgences sway But a simple, untainted wish for silence and peace forever Unlimited and unbound, though essence of the divine shedding impurities of life,, Yet I yearn, lost in Maya's sea That's the crux

Digital downfall

Copy, paste, the link's in the sink Washing down, a flunk to think Wasting no ink, the words just blink Blink, blink, you shrink Here's my interpretation of the poem: "Digital Downfall" is a thought-provoking commentary on the consequences of excessive digital engagement. The opening lines, "Copy, paste, the link's in the sink," suggest the mindless consumption and dissemination of information online. "Washing down, a flunk to think" implies that this digital indulgence can lead to mental stagnation and a lack of critical thinking. "Wasting no ink, the words just blink" may symbolize the ephemeral nature of online content and the fleeting attention span of digital consumers. The final line, "Blink, blink, you shrink," is particularly striking. It could be interpreted as a warning that excessive digital engagement can lead to a shrinking of one's perspective, empathy, and ultimately, one's sense of self. Overall, the ...

Double down

Double down, double down, As the moment's whittling down. Mow, mow, mow, the energy grows, Throw, throw, throw, and let it show. Cut, cut, cut, through the noise and pain, Gut, gut, gut, and let the emotions reign. Fret, fret, fret, with every nervous beat, Strut, strut, strut, and let your spirit compete. Let, let, let, the music move your soul, Beat, beat, beat, and let the rhythm make you whole. Mew, mew, mew, the whispers of your heart, Show, show, show, and let your true self start. Grow, grow, grow, in every single way, And let the world see the best of you each day.

Existential Quest

Whatever I do, I'm reminded of my mortality. Yet, surrounded by thoughts of impermanence, I take bold steps. But progress seems elusive, like one step forward, two steps back. Sometimes, all seems pointless to me. Yet, paralyzed by this thought, I don't become still. I engage with all, actively and free. But the feeling persists, a constant reminder to see. No one will dictate what's true, What to do, or what to eschew. Yet, in this quest, I'm plagued, Tormented by the thought that's engraved: Consciousness that all is in vain, A purposeless existence, an endless refrain. Trapped in this cycle, I remain, Haunted by the void, with no escape to gain. I rage, I frustrate, then calm descends. I question why the storm, the turbulent ends. It's all pointless, I conclude, and seek to break free. Yet, detachment eludes me. I'm drawn back, again and again, To the base, the familiar pain. I revisit the turmoil, the emotional strife. Trapped in this cycle, I yearn to s...

Emptiness

Empty, empty, empty All impurities, evil, decay, and turmoil Let the essence remain Purify with gratitude, elevate with kindness Make space for love, compassion, and the common good Let the heart overflow with these So pure joy reigns Let go of all else Grant me the gift of emptiness

Reflections

Questioning is seeking For completeness, why emptiness? For fullness, why the void? To gain clarity, look beyond Like when water is clear, the bottom is seen, More depths become clearer when the mind is clean.

Emerging Essence

Image
I painted the leaf in brown tones merging with a purple background to create a sense of depth. The facial features are subtly ambiguous, allowing for multiple interpretations. The contrast between white and green in the eyes gives the piece an introspective quality. The leaf’s natural veins are used as part of the structure of the face, creating an organic feel.

The Turmoil Within

When I behave like a beast, what is this that enters me? Suddenly, there's nothing inside as bad as this. So, what is this external thing that comes and mars my pristine nature? Still, I hold the strings, yet influences seep in. Some I cannot help, like anger's fiery spin. Reason falters, pain overwhelms, and emotions sway, Jealousy, lust, and eagerness – illusions that beckon each day. I don't want to circumvent these influences, but face them head-on. For in this turmoil, I search for balance and peace, A fragile dance between heart, mind, and soul's release.

A world in harmony

Hold the world in its unity Grasp the world in its purity See the world in its multiplicity Witness the magic in simplicity Bask in its beauty Grounded in gravity Never allow depravity I think this is a wonderful final version!

A better world

Natural calamities - earthquakes, asteroids, volcanoes bursting - pale into insignificance beside the madness let loose by man's whimsicalities. Beauty of budding, blooming minds, devilry and revelry of craftiness that bleeds. As passengers on this earth, I pray let a better world shine forth for these generations.

Echoes of Golden Bloom

Trumpet trees yellow blooms Driving miles away brooding glooms Steady on curved branches night day They hold sway For years I loved the sight Revelling in poetic flight Alas if only this mass Blessed in fragrance class Crowning glory without fad Will me mighty mad

Leafy creations: a tale of two artists

I'm fond of using leaves and sometimes other materials on an experimental basis. In a fascinating creative exercise, I gave two leaves to two 5-year-old girls and asked them to paint. In art, there's no one "better" way, as creativity and self-expression are highly subjective. Both girls brought their unique perspectives and styles to the task. The first girl's heart-shaped painting, filled with vibrant colors, might represent a more playful, emotional, and spontaneous approach. Her artwork could symbolize joy, love, or warmth. The second girl's tree-like pattern, using white and black, might demonstrate a more observant, analytical, and nature-inspired approach. Her artwork could represent growth, harmony, or balance. Both creations are valuable and meaningful in their own ways. By embracing their differences, we can celebrate the diversity of human creativity and imagination! As the facilitator of this experiment, I've given these girls a wonderful oppor...

Evening, 15th February 2025, Kapra Lake

As I breathe in the tranquil atmosphere, a sense of serenity washes over me. The sun, a glowing radish ball, descends behind the buildings, transforming from a perfect round to a crescent shape. The western sky is set ablaze with vibrant hues, from warm oranges to soft pinks, all tinged with a gentle bluish hue. Despite the sunset's warmth giving way to evening, the sky remains remarkably bright. It's mid-February, but winter's chill has already begun to dissipate, replaced by a steadily increasing heat. The air grows warmer by the day, and the lake's waters transform, shifting from serene calm to mysterious depths. Dark hues mingle with bright, mirror-like reflections. Amidst this tranquil backdrop, a lone figure floats on a makeshift raft, lost in the gentle art of fishing. The soulful melodies of Jasraj's "Ya Devi" envelop me, carrying me away on a tide of beauty and serenity. A boy and girl sit together on the edge, in a romantic mode, while the girl p...

The Last Laugh

I was relaxing in the veranda when I heard a shout from the gate. Someone was calling for the maid. I didn't quite catch it, so I asked, "What does she want?" The lady immediately replied, "Anna, I want to talk to Jyoti, the maid." The lady, another maid herself, had come seeking work and was hoping to connect with Jyoti. After Jyoti went to talk to the lady, their conversation took an unexpected turn. The lady's concerns shifted from finding work to her husband's struggles with drunkenness. She was aware of the "secret" that Jyoti's husband, notorious for his drinking and violent behavior, had abruptly stopped drinking. It was an open secret among the maid community, who all pretended not to know to avoid his wrath. Jyoti returned shortly, asking me to write down the name of a nearby medical shop. I asked her why, and she revealed that it was next to a homeopath who provided the medicine that had helped her husband overcome his drinking ha...

Evening harmony

As dusk descends, light's gentle grasp fades, Lake waters darken, shadows are made. A fleck of white, a bird in swift flight, Cuts across the somber, evening light. Distant lights shine on the water, A trail of gold, a peaceful daughter, Ripples sparkle, like diamonds rare, A serene reflection, beyond compare. Trees stand sentinel, unmoving and still, Birds hold their breath, in quiet thrill, The track alone whispers, a gentle hum, As passing vehicles in the distance, their noise, a distant drum. In this peaceful hush, I gaze afar, Distant lights twinkling, like stars. The walking stretch, nearly empty and wide, Few pedestrians stroll, side by side, Their footsteps echo, in the quiet air, As the city's pulse slows, without a care. The western sky is set aflame, Crimson hues dance, in a waning game, The color stretches, far and wide, Until the blue horizon, gently takes its pride. The evening's hush, is broken by a sound, A chirping chorus, from birds all around, Their gentl...

Prayer

Prayer can be so much more than reciting words or remembering a deity. It's a powerful way to connect with the universe, nature, and our inner selves. Prayer comprises all-encompassing noble thoughts and invoking the universe. This approach acknowledges prayer as a personal and subjective experience, transcending traditional religiosity. By framing prayer as aligning with the universe and rising above oneself, we tap into its potential to inspire growth, transformation, and self-awareness. This holistic understanding of prayer encompasses the physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of our being. Taking prayer beyond the limits of oneself is the root of many problems we face today. With multiple temples and noise all around, people clash with each other, and the power of prayer is totally destroyed. The ecstatic experience of भक्ति (bhakti) in a group setting, where individuals become fully immersed in music, dance, and singing, transcending their ordinary selves, can indeed be a...

Timeless wisdom

Yesterday behind, Tomorrow beyond, Today on hand. Be kind all round, A sound mind is what you have to find, Before all falls to wind

Lost by Both, Found by Neither

Before sleep, after sleep, One wave sweeps, Once again, I walk the familiar path, Relevant only to those I left behind, Who now walk with me. Sleep or sweep, People gaze at me in dismay, As I reconnect with the past, Another group, left behind, now lost, Looks on, ages away. One I am familiar with, yet heard from afar, A distant echo that whispers who we are. The other loud and clear, yet unfamiliar to me, A voice that's close, yet strange, a mystery.

A Stranger in Every Land

A Stranger in Every Land A bird on the pole, unsure which way to fly, Echoes my own heart, lost in the open sky. Wherever I fly, I don't belong, it's true, A stranger in every land, with no place to call anew. An old woman laughs nearby, detached from the fray, Untroubled by life's chaos, in her own world she'll stay. But I am worried, weighed down by anxious fears, As suspicious glances follow me, through all my tears. Doubt and questioning eyes, upon my identity gaze, Leaving me to wonder, in this endless maze. Who am I, and where do I belong? A question that haunts me, all day long. My reaction after watching "Naanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam," a Tamil movie that explores themes of identity, belonging, and the human condition. You go to sleep and wake up to find a new identity for yourself. In this new identity, you try to reconnect with people you left behind years ago. They only recognize your words, not your face. It's difficult for them to accept or rejec...

if only

If things could be as simple as done If the damage is as good as undone If hurt minds are repairable If everything not contrary to nature If all done is good only If imperfections don't exist

What fuels creativity?

I used to sit in meditation and experience flashes of brilliance. Lately, however, those moments have eluded me. Today was particularly challenging - my mind was a complete blank. As I struggled to come up with a meaningful message, I realized that I was simply feeling dull. And that's when it hit me: when the mind is dull, it needs a drill to get the thrill. This phrase became my morning message, a reminder that sometimes, all we need is a spark to reignite our creativity and inspiration.

Surprise

I recall a witty remark made by my former SP, who would often joke about the challenges of surprise inspections. 'These days,' he'd say with a chuckle, 'we go on surprise inspections to see who's on duty. And you know what the greatest surprise is? Finding out there's no one there!' He'd add with a grin, 'The surprise is for us, not them!'

Aging

Someone older than me asked yesterday, "Are you older or am I older?" I replied, "What difference does it make? Think that I am older than you. After a certain age, age no longer matters." Since childhood, I've observed that even a one or two year age difference can be a concern for some, often leading them to be dishonest about their age. Aging is not saging, nor lazing, but blazing. Lying about my age won't stop me from aging, nor will it stop me from dying.

Sweetness unlimited

Sweet dreams made of sweet thoughts, Sweet thoughts made of sweet thinking, Sweet thinking made of sweet habits, Sweet habits made of sweet values, Sweet values made of sweet upbringing. (Note: This sweetness no harm for diabetics)

Refuge in contrasts

If you start to see: Content in discontent Respect in contempt Love and respect in anger Relief in pain Calm in fear, Blessings in hatred and abuse. A profound practice of alchemy, Transforming darkness into light, Hatred into healing, Abuse into awareness. May we rise above, may we choose to see, The blessings hidden within adversity.
